This is a full-time on-site position located in Napa, CA.
Primary Function
Assist with gathering and compiling data for use in estimates. Maintain current accurate information from suppliers and subcontractors through direct contact and written materials. Prepare a portion of the estimate for one or more disciplines. Creates estimates under general supervision.
Typical Duties:
- Review project plans and specifications on tasks assigned by Chief Estimator or Senior Estimator to creating RFI technical questions & determine requirements for materials, supplies, and services Also possible involvement with preparing project details for Small Business outreach, ITB invite, Contact List set-up, gathering and itemizing vendors & values if a Subcontracting Plan is
- Conduct research to locate and make contact with suitable vendors for various work features of each project. Initiate early communication to outside services and resources on key work activities or unique features on the Assist vendors by answering questions, clarifying information, performing and comparing quantity take-offs to identifying the scope for the request for quotes and providing them with updates on any amendments or changes. Analyze vendor scope of work and quotations for compliance to requirements and prepare detailed comparison to multiple vendor quotes. Gather references and financial data on significant new subcontractors to evaluate their capability to perform the quoted work.
- Prepare estimates using HCSS software and takeoff Follow bid form structure; complete accurate take-off in spreadsheet template for importing to HCSS, where applicable; use notes to explain expectations and contract references; develop quote folders. Evaluate and apply estimate productivity to historical data. Maintain HCSS template estimates with current rates and productivity on a continual basis. Utilize the most current department software programs efficiently to improve productivity and quality estimates including Box (FTP), Bluebeam take-off, P6 Primavera scheduling, Teams conferencing, and others when available. Participate in bid reviews prior to the estimate being finalized.
- Gather necessary information to generate periodic analysis reports on current and past Bid Results, Year-to-Date Summaries, Historical Job Cost and Production Reporting Visit project sites, as available, to gain knowledge of crew, equipment materials used and productivity.
- Prepare information packages for awarded projects and participate in Bid Turn Over meetings between the Estimating Department and the Operations Project Team(s). Assist Operations Department, as time is available, to draft project management plans, submittals, purchase orders, and subcontract Assist with assembling and/or delivery of proposal packages as needed.
- Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
Educational and experience requirements include: Four year construction related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience. Experience in similar facility construction estimating and related functions plus estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts is necessary. Organizational and decision making/problem solving skills are essential. In-Office role (not remote), with typical office hours Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
