What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Telecommunications Tower Climber position at Nova Communications?

Nova Communications (dba Novacomm) is a fast-growing leader in vertical telecommunications construction and maintenance. We specialize in supporting critical wireless infrastructure across New Mexico through expert tower climbing, equipment installation, fiber and power diagnostics, and emergency site restoration. We’re expanding our team and looking for field technicians who value safety, precision, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform safe and efficient tower climbs ranging from 90 to 500 feet
- Install, replace, and maintain critical telecom infrastructure (radios, antennas, hybrid trunks, GPS, power/fiber connections)
- Analyze and interpret alarms and troubleshoot on-site failures
- Maintain detailed work documentation and photo reporting for each job
- Follow client specifications and industry standards (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.)
- Travel to remote sites and perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Communicate effectively and contribute to a small, close-knit team
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to climb and work at heights up to 500 feet for extended periods
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs (tools, equipment, materials)
- Ability to bend, crawl, squat, and perform manual labor in confined or elevated spaces
- Comfortable wearing a climbing harness and PPE for long durations
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of experience in telecommunications, electrical, or tower fieldwork preferred
- Comfortable with tower climbing; certified or willing to become certified
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and RFDS
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and remain detail oriented
- Must pass background check and drug screening

- Rigging & Capstan Operation
