What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Janitor/Custodian position at Nova Academy Charter School?
The Quality Control Assistant is responsible for the general appearance of the facilities inside and out.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assure the school site is in a clean and orderly condition. Perform various skilled and unskilled tasks on a daily basis.
- Cleans and sanitizes all restrooms including floors
- Maintains proper care and disposal of all trash and recyclables
- Performs general cleaning of classrooms, offices and all related areas
- Opens designated areas and turn of night lights in the morning
- Checks for and reports vandalism
- Cleans and sanitizes all restrooms
- Restock supplies in all restrooms
- Maintains the grounds as specified by the Manager
- Secures designated buildings as designed
- Perform odd jobs that needs quick attention
- Informs administration of repairs
- Cleans up after accidents or illnesses
- Replaces light bulbs and tubes as needed
- Adjusts the heating and cooling temperatures of site
- Cares for all campus floors and carpets in an efficient manner
- Performs minor repair services
- Performs light painting as assigned by the Manager
- Participate in training instructions and activities
- Set up meeting rooms
- Performs other duties as assigned by Manager
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will have no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Listed below are representatives of knowledge, skills and or ability required:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to read and write routine reports and correspondence in English
- Experienced in custodial work or equivalence
- Proficiency in the use of custodial equipment and cleaning chemicals
- Knowledgeable of carpentry, electricity, painting, mechanical, plumbing, general maintenance problems common to commercial buildings
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all school requirements and Governing Board Policies
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalence preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel with effective public speaking skills before large groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations
REASONING SKILLS
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to use basic office equipment and the ability to learn and use other software as necessary.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Criminal records check, pre-hire and annually thereafter, if applicable. Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization.
