What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Global Quality position at NOV?

The Director of Global Quality reports to the President of the business unit and is accountable for QA & QC globally, working across regions to follow up on all global activities, primarily focused on process alignment and continuous improvement in strategic initiatives as well as customer contact and support. Representing international operations in executing global processes, you will create vision and purpose for the operations teams through coaching and developing skills in line with your primary objective.  You will be expected to harness a working environment encouraging teamwork, accountability, and an engaged workforce.  As Director of Global Quality, you will be responsible for ensuring systems and procedures operated across the regions adhere to the requirements of accreditation and more critical to the business and to focus on the continued assurance that the products meet national and international standards. With appropriate leadership, this position will guide the quality team members to a long-term quality assurance vision, formalizing quality policies & procedures, and establish performance metrics for the department in-line with internal and external customer goals and cooperate deeply with operations to drive continuous improvement and increased operational efficiencies.  This role will entail working closely with the business unit’s executive leadership team across functions to drive continuous process improvements and business success.

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, create and implement the Quality Strategy to eliminate business risks with respect to QA and QC activities and involvement
  • Develop, create and implement a Quality Strategy that strengthens the quality of the products and output of products and services delivered to the customers
  • To co-ordinate the regional approach to QA & QC and liaise with all key stakeholders to ensure that the processes are followed and developed in line with Quality Strategy
  • Continually improve the Quality of the Global business by ensuring that the Quality KPIs (strategy) are measured effectively
  • Assess and validate the regional Quality Assurance team, structure and members
  • Establish – in the domain, operational processes globally
  • Participate in annual QA management meetings with Regional leaders
  • Manage critical global initiatives review and monitor process
  • Participate in Review of critical tenders & projects
  • Support project teams as required
  • Support Supply Chain with annual business reviews of key suppliers
  • Support Supply Chain in critical vendor development and performance improvement initiatives
  • Support ISO/API certifications per facility and region
  • Establish cross-regional joint operations within the domain 
  • Continually develop the team capability/capacity, competency, career development and succession planning
  • Identify, communicate, and maintain KPIs producing regular update reports
  • Responsible for QA management tools and methods
  • Responsible for 3rd party certifications
  • Responsible for QA performance across all Grant Prideco operations
  • Give input to the President for recommendation for approval of complex / major / critical projects that requires senior or higher-level approval 
  • Liaise between all groups to resolve conflict and eliminate barriers for cooperation and continuous improvement
  • Continually develop the team capability/capacity, competency, career development and succession planning

Qualifications

Essential: Higher education in a technical field such as Engineering or Business

Experience

Essential: Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 5 years as a leader of international teams 

Desirable: 

  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing/repair processes of equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of ISO9001/API Q1
  • Working knowledge of API 5DP and API Spec 7 - 1

Skills, Training or Special Knowledge

Essential: Lead Auditor certification

Desirable: Quality Control knowledge and technical knowledge of NOV products

Quality Assurance

  • Carry out all duties in accordance with the Quality Assurance procedures and department/area work instructions.
  • Contribute to general improvements in the quality and key activities of the department/area.

Training

  • Participate in training where required.

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Carry out all duties safely and in accordance with the Health & Safety Policy, Employee Handbook, procedures, training and instruction.
  • To be safety conscious and report any safety hazards to the HSE representative.
