About the job:
As the Production Manager, you will lead and oversee all manufacturing operations at our Green Bay site, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of Expancel® microspheres and Levasil® colloidal silica products. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence while meeting customer expectations, maintaining a strong focus on safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.
This leadership role is accountable for production performance, cost management, capital projects, quality, asset reliability, and HSE&S initiatives. You will lead and develop the production team, collaborate cross-functionally to achieve business objectives, and serve as a key member of the Site Leadership Team. In the absence of the Site Manager, you will provide site leadership and operational oversight.
In your future role as a Production Manager, you will:
- Lead and direct manufacturing operations across six production units, ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and on schedule to meet customer demand.
- Oversee day-to-day production performance while optimizing staffing, equipment utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing solutions to production, maintenance, scheduling, technical, and process challenges.
- Develop and manage departmental budgets, monitor operating costs, and oversee capital investment planning to support long-term operational success.
- Analyze plant performance to improve safety, reliability, product quality, production rates, and manufacturing yields.
- Champion a strong safety culture by leading HSE&S initiatives, ensuring compliance with environmental permits and regulations, and supporting Responsible Care® and ISO management systems.
- Develop and execute departmental training and safety plans while coaching and developing a high-performing production team.
- Lead efforts related to quality systems, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement across the production organization.
- Oversee month-end production reporting, manufacturing cost performance, inventory reconciliation, and site variable manufacturing costs (VMC).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and serve as a key member of the Site Leadership Team, providing operational leadership and supporting overall site performance.
- Act as the Site Manager's delegate when needed, helping ensure smooth and effective site operations.
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent industry experience (Chemical Engineering preferred).
- 8 years of manufacturing or production experience within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience managing production teams in an industrial setting.
- Experience working at a Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) covered facility is highly preferred.
- Experience in a laboratory or R&D environment is a plus.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people development skills with the ability to build engaged, high-performing teams.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills, with a focus on driving accountability and results.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify best practices and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Experience managing production budgets, operational performance, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Proficiency with SAP; experience with CAPEX management, Lean Six Sigma (L6S/DMAIC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Enablon, or EPI-MES is a plus.
- The ability to work comfortably in a manufacturing plant environment, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, safety glasses, a hard hat, and a respirator when necessary.
- The ability to lift up to 25 pounds and communicate effectively in English.
- This is a full time onsite position located in Green Bay, WI.
- This position reports directly to the Site Director.
