This position is essential to both our daily operations and the heart of our mission. Our 600 volunteers are the most valuable resource we have, and this role exists to support, connect, and celebrate them.
You will ensure that:

Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Recruitment & Training
- Lead volunteer recruitment through outreach to individuals, businesses, schools, and community organizations.
- Represent Nourish at community events, volunteer fairs, and speaking engagements.
- Develop and facilitate welcoming, engaging orientation and training sessions to prepare volunteers for roles within the operations.
- Ensure volunteers understand policies, safety protocols, and the unique needs of those we serve through clear materials and hands-on instruction.
- Oversee volunteer screening, background checks, and accurate recordkeeping for participation, training, and schedules using volunteer management software.
- Support major programs, fundraising events, and special volunteer-driven initiatives to expand outreach and deepen community partnerships.
Daily Operations & Meal Delivery Support
- Manage daily volunteer scheduling to ensure every route, kitchen shift, and project is fully staffed and runs smoothly, with plans in place for last-minute changes.
- Work closely with kitchen and client services teams while serving as the main point of contact for volunteers, offering encouragement, troubleshooting, and support.
- Step in as needed to support daily operations, including meal delivery.
Volunteer Engagement
- Build and sustain a welcoming, inclusive, and mission-driven volunteer culture.
- Develop and implement creative volunteer appreciation initiatives, including events and storytelling opportunities.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement long-term volunteer engagement strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen volunteer pipelines through partnerships, outreach, and community relationships.
- Use data and feedback to assess program effectiveness and recommend improvements that enhance the overall volunteer experience.

Required Qualifications
- Passion for Nourish Meals on Wheels’ mission and serving our community.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, volunteer management, communications, or equivalent related experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and volunteer management/CRM software.
- Comfortable learning new platforms and applying technology to improve efficiency.
- Proven ability to coordinate complex schedules and logistics while maintaining attention to detail and relationships.
- Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage challenges with empathy and professionalism.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan ahead, juggle multiple priorities, and achieve goals in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and be on your feet for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience managing volunteers or large community programs, with responsibility for staff, interns, or volunteer leaders.
- Experience in human services, senior programs, or community-based meal delivery.
- Ability to develop and implement volunteer engagement and retention strategies.
- Experience using social media, email, and storytelling to recruit and engage volunteers.
Compensation/Benefits:
- Compensation range: $55,000 – 60,000
- Nourish offers a competitive salary and benefit package including paid holidays, accrued paid time off (PTO), medical, vision, dental insurance and a 403b contribution match up to 3%.
