What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Assistant I position at Nottoway County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office?
Job Description: The Administrative Assistant must be willing to work in a team environment, working closely with court personnel, law enforcement, and attorneys. The Administrative Assistant serves at the pleasure of the Commonwealth’s Attorney.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Reception work such as answering the phone, and assisting people who come in to the office.
- Creating, and maintaining case files – physical and through a digital case management system to include scanning, uploading, and filing documents.
- Preparing letters and documents as needed.
- Delivering paperwork to the courts and local governmental offices daily.
- Scheduling and coordinating appointments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older
- U.S. Citizen
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be able to obtain and maintain VCIN certification
- Must be willing to undergo a criminal background check
- Ability to maintain confidential files and records
- Ability to learn and comply with legal ethics rules as advised
- Knowledge of computer programs
- Administrative assistant experience preferred
- Legal administrative assistant experience highly preferred
- Valid driver’s license may be required
