JOB DESCRIPTION

STAR PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Committed to the mission and the Charisms of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, the STAR adult program (Self-Determination- Teamwork- Ability- Respect) opened in 2018. The adult program embraces the mission of Notre Dame School and offers a continuum of education and services that will have a positive effect on the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, their families, and the broader community. The program offers independent living, continuing education, social and leisure skills. The program additionally offers a pre-vocational and community-based instruction component.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
* Aligns with STAR staff that innovative programming and community inclusion
opportunities are being developed for all individuals. This includes creating group,
community, and individual activities based on individual needs
* Works in collaboration with the program director and assistant instructor(s) to ensure
that a functional curriculum is implemented and is based on the individual needs
* Responsible for submitting information that is important for billing purposes to the
director, in a timely manner.
* Records data regarding to STAR participant goals.
* Must adhere to all confidential guidelines and procedures (HIPPA)
* As needed, supports records/ invoices necessary for billing purposes to ensure
completeness, accuracy, and compliance with billing and contract requirements
* With direction from STAR Director, communicates appropriately with the families and
providers (agencies)
* As needed, implements behavior plans for participants
* Annually receives teaching evaluation from Director
* Drives STAR participants in program van(s) off-site activities
* Collaborates with the STAR team to plan and teach functional academics, social
skills, leisure, and other selected classes to STAR participants
Attends weekly staff meetings
Has knowledge of the Notre Dame School program (calendar, activities, expectations
etc).
* Adheres to the rules and guidelines set forth by the East Dallas Christian Church
WORK HOURS/ CALENDAR:
Monday-Friday, 8am - 4pm and weekly STAR staff planning meetings after program hours
The STAR Program is 210 days a year across ll -months- beginning August I and ends June 30.
2 in-service days in August, 1 in-service in January, and 1 in-service day June.
Holidays follow the Notre Dame School calendar- with the exception of the Monday after Easter.
The STAR program is closed for the month of July.

Reports to STAR Director, Notre Dame of Dallas School president and principal

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be 25 years or older due to driving requirements.
Minimum of high school diploma; continuing education and/or experience in education, psychology, sociology, or related field.
Must have experience in programming and/or education and behavioral services for individuals with disabilities.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong experience working with families and students.
Must be strongly efficient in using technology for electronic documentation, service contracts, and coordinating e-learning schedules.
Background checks and driving records will be completed prior to employment.
STAR Instructors must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Salary commensurate with experience.
