What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parttime Dance Teacher for Middle Level and Upper Level position at NOTRE DAME PREPARATORY SCHOOL?
Notre Dame Preparatory School (NDP), a Catholic, independent, college preparatory school for girls in grades 6 - 12 located in Towson, Maryland, seeks a part-time dance teacher in our Performing Arts Department for the 2026 - 2027 school year. This position will involve teaching sections of Middle Level Dance classes, moderating the Middle Level Dance Company and teaching sections of Upper Level Foundations of Dance Classes.

Annual dates for the 10-month position are August 16th to June 15th (as well as attending new employee orientation August 17, 18 & 19, 2026). This position will be on campus daily up to four (4) hours per day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Middle Level Dance classes to Grades 6 – 8.
- Teach Upper Level Dance classes to Grades 9 – 12.
- Moderate after-school Middle Level Dance Company (Friday afternoons).
- Choreograph pieces for and co-direct two dance performances each year.
- Work collaboratively with members of the Performing Arts department on developing/improving curriculum.
- Participate in ongoing professional development.
- Participate in the school community with other duties as assigned, such as Dance Day and Festivals taking place in the evenings and on some weekends.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Dance required. Masters degree in Dance or related field preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise teaching dance to middle and high school students required.
- Strong background in Dance pedagogy.
- Maryland State Teacher Certification preferred.
- Ability to integrate technology effectively into instruction.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of the Performing Arts department and the NDP community.

Annual salary is $25,000 to $35,000 (actual pro-rated salary) based upon degrees and experience. NDP offers a part-time benefits package including dental and vision insurance, 403b Plan with employer contribution as well as generous paid time off (sick time, personal days, holidays and other school closures) in addition to electing ancillary benefits.
