Role Description The High School English Teacher is a full-time, on-site position located in Elmira, NY for the 2026-2027 school year. This role is responsible for planning and delivering engaging English lessons aligned with NYS regents, AP standards, and school curriculum, including literature, composition, grammar, and critical thinking. Daily responsibilities include preparing lesson plans and instructional materials, leading classroom discussions, assessing student work, providing feedback, and maintaining accurate records of grades and progress. The teacher collaborates with colleagues, participates in department and school meetings, communicates regularly with families about student performance, and contributes to school-wide initiatives and events. The role also involves supporting students’ individual learning needs and fostering a respectful, inclusive classroom environment.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong teaching skills, including English Teaching and general Teaching experience at the high school level.
- Candidates should possess effective curriculum and classroom preparation skills, including Lesson Planning aligned with educational standards.
- Candidates should possess advanced language skills, including Writing and clear, professional Communication with students, families, and colleagues.
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field; appropriate state teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
- Experience with classroom management, differentiated instruction, and assessment strategies in secondary education.
- Ability to integrate instructional technology and support diverse learners in an inclusive environment.
