OVERVIEW OF POSITION
ND is seeking a skilled, student-centered TV Production & Live Broadcast Supervisor to support live sports broadcasts, studio production, filmmaking projects, and special events. This role includes hands-on training of students, equipment setup/teardown and maintenance, live stream oversight, scheduling support, and troubleshooting in both field and studio environments. This is a part-time position-12-15 hours a week during the academic year.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
X-Period / After-School Training Sessions
- Teach and demonstrate proper equipment/gear maintenance
- Lead hands-on practice run-throughs for live production workflows
- Train students on setup and teardown procedures on location (football field, pool, gym, etc.)
- Support student growth through coaching, feedback, and skill-building
Scheduling & Crew Coordination
- Review the activity calendar and identify games that don’t conflict with other TV Production events
- Schedule enough students to fill crew roles for each game/event
- Coordinate staffing needs with program leadership
Game Day Broadcast Operations (Sports)
- Provide on-site supervision for every game
- Oversee student teams through:
- Equipment setup and teardown (1–2 hours before and after each game)
- Learning support for new crew members (demonstrate setup; model best practices)
- Troubleshooting equipment and stream issues
- Overall broadcast quality and production flow
- Post score updates and stream links to NDSN Twitter
- Moderate YouTube chat/comments and support anchor moderation
Other School Events (Broadcast/Production Support)
Provide production support for events such as:
- Cutrella
- Graduation
- Creature Feature
- Coffee Hours
NDTV / TV Production
Assist with weekly show production, including:
- Reviewing story ideas and guiding editorial decisions
- Giving feedback on rough cuts and supporting re-edits
- Observing and coaching students during late-night shoots
- Lighting support: adjusting lights, explaining purpose, teaching technique
- Greenscreen maintenance
- Teaching floor crew setup (teleprompter, desk, lights, cameras, slate, etc.)
- Troubleshooting studio systems and workflows
Music Video Projects Festival Support
- Support pre-festival planning and student projects
- Festival duties may include:
- Setup (awards, tables, food, etc.)
- Tech run-through and A/V testing
Filmmaking Program Support
- Script development: table reads, critique sessions, revision support
- Attend and support script pitch festival; judge pitches if needed
- Production supervision: permits/location coordination; supervise shoots
- Teach/coach students on lighting and camera techniques during filming
Sundance Trip Support
- Register students on Sundance site
- Purchase ticket packages (queue-based purchasing)
- Research short film programs and guest speakers; collect contact info
- Assist with scheduling and chaperoning logistics

- Blackmagic Design ATEM switcher operation, signal routing, and troubleshooting
