Campus Director of Plant Operations and GroundsFull Time - Salary ExemptNotre Dame Health Care, Worcester Ma



Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the safe and efficient functioning of the facility's plant operations, housekeeping, laundry, and grounds.
  • Serves as NDHC's Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with NDHC’s Safety and Health Management Policy or related State/Federal regulations.
  • Supervises and manages all department employees, overseeing their performance, development, and training.
  • Manages the department's budget, including plant-specific Capital Budget projects.

Requirements

1. High School diploma or equivalent required.

2. An associate or bachelor's degree in a related field such as Plant Engineering, Facilities Management or a related field relative to campus plant operations management is preferred.

3. Minimum 5 years plant operations management experience required

4. Minimum of 10 years of experience in plant operations, housekeeping, or a similar role. Minimum 2-years' experience within a general healthcare facility, skilled nursing facility, assisted living facility required.

5. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification is required within 1-year of employment.

6. Thorough knowledge of elder care industry Environment of Care and regulatory requirements required. Ability to schedule, complete, audit, and track OSHA regulatory and industry EOC requirements are both required.

7. Ability to manage capital improvement and maintenance projects, including the research and solicitation of bids, service contracts, and project financial management required.

8. Position requires intermediate level use of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Strong computer skills required including the use electronic plant management software (Example: TELS).

9. Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop teams.

10. Position serves as NDHC’s Safety Officer.

11. Sound financial management and budgeting experience.

12. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and facilities management software.

Knowledge of:

1. Strong knowledge of safety and health management policies and regulations.

2. Thorough knowledge of State/Federal regulatory requirements including OSHA, DPH facility standards, and Joint Commission standards.

3. Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in building maintenance, and grounds keeping.

4. Principles and practices of facility maintenance, grounds keeping and custodial including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, interior partitioning and finishing, landscape maintenance, irrigation, fertilization and pest control, and tree trimming; Methods, materials, tools and equipment used within grounds keeping and snow removal.

5. Principles and practices of supervision including work planning, direction and personnel practices.

6. Applicable laws, codes, regulations and standards governing grounds keeping, safety and safe working practices for building maintenance, custodial or grounds keeping work.

7. Safety and safe working practices for building maintenance, custodial and grounds keeping work.

Skill in:

1. Sensitivity to and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of staff and residents.

2. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

3. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

4. Planning, organizing, scheduling, assigning and reviewing the work of others.

5. Selecting, training, instructing, appraising, counseling and motivating assigned staff.

6. Maintaining records and preparing reports and correspondence including required regulatory reports and records.

7. Evaluating and developing procedures, standards and methods for building maintenance and improvement, and grounds keeping.

8. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.

9. Managing and implementing the department budget including maintenance service contract administration and payroll expense management.

10. Reading, interpreting and assisting in the preparation of plans, specifications and other bid documents for minor construction/grounds projects.

11. Exercising sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines.

Other Requirements:

1. Possess a valid motor vehicle driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record; subject to call-in during off hours and weekends as required. As an exempt employee, the incumbent may be asked to work variable schedules.
