The Music Assistant/Accompanist supports the music program at Notre Dame de Sion High School by
providing high-quality accompaniment and rehearsal support across ensembles, performances, and events. This
role enhances the musical experience for students while supporting Sion’s mission to develop confident,
collaborative, and expressive learners

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Sion mission.
- Music degree preferred, with emphasis on piano performance
- Ability to accompany choral and instrumental pieces
- Accompany advanced level pieces for student competitions
- Accompany for the musical
- Assist with instrumental arrangements, including writing piano accompaniments based on
- instrumental parts that are missing from the ensemble
- Understanding of adolescent development, especially the needs of high school girls.
- Strong rehearsal management skills that balance creativity with structure and safety.
- Ability to collaborate with the Fine Arts Department and production team.
- Willingness to mentor students during rehearsals and performances.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Serve as the accompanist for school ensembles and music activities, including:
- Petit Chœur
- Grand Chœur
- Symphonie de Sion
- Tri-M Music Honor Society
- School Masses and liturgical celebrations
- Annual Musical and rehearsals
- Provide accompaniment and musical support for performances and school events, including (but not limited to):
- Assemblies
- Community performances, including 2 concerts a year
- Musical
- Solo and Ensemble Festival, District and State
- Recruitment events
- Breakfast with Santa
- International choral festivals every 3 - 4 years, with extra rehearsals to prepare
- District and State Choir
- District and State Band/Orchestra/Jazz Band
- District and State Solo amp; Ensemble (this should be up above, not here)
- Provide rehearsal support during the school day.
- Develop and/or adapt arrangements and orchestrations for Symphonie de Sion as needed
- Travel with and support student ensembles as an assistant and/or accompanist for international trips,as assigned
- Contributes positively to the Fine Arts Department and overall school community.
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Performing Arts.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS amp; WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to carry heavy equipment at times and drive a large van
- Evening or weekend commitments are required for rehearsals or performances (scheduled in advance).
