Description

Job Title: Non-Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor, School of Business and Management

Position Location: NDNU Campus - Belmont, CA/Hybrid

Salary: $91,237 - $107,332 per annum

Pending Budget approval for 2025-2026 fiscal year

 

General Description: The School of Business and Management (SBM) at Notre Dame de Namur University (NDNU) seeks a student-centered and pedagogically informed full-time Non-Tenure Track Assistant/ Associate Professor of Business. This is a 12-month faculty position working irregular hours during the Spring, Summer, and Fall, including afternoon, evening, and occasional weekends. The position includes teaching, leadership, academic, and university service, including teaching undergraduate courses with the option of teaching graduate courses in the School of Business and Management as well as academic and administrative service to the SBM and NDNU.  Service may include directing SBM faculty development, including supporting faculty when teaching online and in-person courses to support academic excellence, aligning with best practices and meeting accreditation standards.

 

Job duties:

  • Teach a variety of courses within the School of Business and Management and any other departments as applicable
  • Collaborate with the SBM Dean on NDNU and SBM administrative tasks, including university and School service, serving on committees, engaging in accreditation activities, collaborating interdepartmentally, and supporting student-led organizations.
  • Stay relevant and updated with teaching pedagogical practice in the undergraduate and graduate classroom.
  • Stay relevant and updated with online teaching pedagogies and NDNU LMS (currently Canvas)

Faculty Development and Support Duties (if assigned):

  • Provide additional, tailored support for all faculty teaching in the School of Business and Management, both undergraduate and graduate, by offering group and 1:1 faculty development and training opportunities that are aligned with regulations, standards and goals set by CETL, WSCUC, ACBSP, and SBM.
  • Provide technical support and assistance throughout the course development and delivery process for School of Business and Management Faculty teaching undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Collaborate with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) to ensure accordance with WSCUC and ACBSP accreditation and standards.

Program Director Duties (if assigned):

  • Collaborate with the NDNU admissions department and transfer admissions, supporting the evaluation of prospective students for the BA Business Administration Degree Completion program.
  • Develop high visibility in the local community regarding admissions and recruiting efforts for the School of Business and Management.
  • Attend recruiting events such as college fairs and periodic virtual information sessions in addition to meeting with prospective students if needed.
  • Respond to emails and admit students via the admissions CRM and inquiries in a timely manner (within 24 hours).
  • Collaborate on organization of course cycling and coordinate course offerings with SBM Dean
  • Recommend for hiring and support Adjunct Faculty for the BA Business Administration Degree Completion course offerings
  • Collaborate closely with the NDNU Registrar to support NDNU re-entry students, degree evaluations, and graduation requirements
  • Other administrative duties as may be assigned

Qualifications (Necessary):

  • Doctoral Degree (PhD or DBA) in a relevant business area from a regionally accredited university. Background in economics, finance, information or logistics preferred. Experience with quantitative and analytical modeling and applications is highly desirable.
  • Business background (MBA or work experience in field of expertise)
  • Experience working in faculty leadership position/s
  • Experience working and teaching in Business Degree programs (undergraduate and/or graduate)
  • Experience working with and/or teaching a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate, traditional and non-traditional, first-generation, transfer, and ESL students
  • Expertise in online course development, pedagogy, and delivery
  • Expertise in Canvas LMS and an ability to communicate well with a diverse group of School of Business and Management faculty ranging in levels of familiarity with technology and various teaching pedagogies. High level of expertise in communicating with faculty in a development / training setting
  • Responsiveness and flexibility to meet the needs of graduate and undergraduate students who work full-time and attend school during non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends.

Other Qualifications (Highly Desirable):

  • Compatible with the University and Department Mission and Philosophy
  • Awareness of ACBSP or AACSB accreditation standards
  • Familiarity with WSCUC accreditation standards
  • Excellent teamwork and collaborative skills interdepartmentally within a university and/or collegiate setting
  • Experience interacting with undergraduate and graduate students in the college classroom context
