As a Seasonal Bakery Team Member in the Joy Creator Role, you will work closely with other team members to create a welcoming environment for our customers while upholding the highest standards of quality and service. Your responsibilities will include, engaging with guests to ensure their visit is joyous, making sure the guests orders are correct, crafting the decorations for cakes, maintaining cleanliness of the bakery; all with the expectation of providing exceptional customer service. Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Warmly welcome walk-in and phone guests with genuine enthusiasm, promptly assisting them to understand their interests and needs, and follow NbC SWEET Steps of Service to ensure an exceptional guest experience.
  • Maintain product knowledge about cake sizes, flavors, pricing, promotions and retail merchandise.
  • Processes guest orders accurately utilizing point-of-sale system and invites guests to join the Bundtastic Rewards and NbC Email Club programs.
  • Keep the bakery clean and organized utilizing the cleaning checklists.
  • Replenish retail merchandise and the cake display case to ensure a strong visual presentation.
  • Assemble cake orders according to NbC cake decorating and presentation standards.
  • Prepare cake decorations, boxes, bows, bags, and other packaging materials in advance to ensure supplies are readily available.
  • Adheres to the proper packaging, labeling and storage of frosted cakes as well as product rotation standards.
  • Performs routine cleaning of windows, shelves, counters, refrigerator, cooler and bathroom.
  • Gathers and removes garbage, sweeps and mops floors.
  • Assist in receiving and storing weekly deliveries from suppliers.
  • Monitor inventory levels of supplies and notify management when restocking is necessary.
  • Maintain a consistent work attendance and punctuality record.
  • Follow all health and safety guidelines, policies and procedures, including adhering strictly to the dress code.
  • Desire and ability to learn other job duties and responsibilities.

  • Ensuring accurate and timely fulfillment of customer orders, including custom or special requests.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Age: Applicants to be 18 years of age or older.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is often preferred.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail is needed when following recipes, reading tickets, and decorating cakes.
  • Basic Math Skills: Necessary for measuring ingredients, taking inventory, and cash handling.
  • Time Management: The ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and work quickly and efficiently, especially during busy periods or when multiple orders need to be fulfilled simultaneously.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication with coworkers, supervisors, and customers is essential for ensuring smooth operations and meeting customer needs.
  • Teamwork: Collaboration and the ability to work well as part of a team are important for team success.
  • Technology: Comfortable with technology and has the ability to operate point-of-sale and computer systems.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. The role involves prolonged periods of standing, lifting boxes, bags and bending, stooping, reaching, and repetitive motions.
  • Temperature Variations: The role involves exposure to cold temperatures due to refrigeration units.
  • Handling Equipment: Employees may need to operate bakery equipment such as mixer, commercial oven, dollies and step ladders.
  • Fast-Paced Environment: The ability to work efficiently under pressure and multitask will be required.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Employees will be expected to clean work areas, equipment, and utensils daily.
  • Teamwork: Employees should be able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Customer Interaction: Strong customer service skills and a friendly and professional demeanor is necessary.

Work Availability:

Employee hours are targeted to be between 20 and 32 hours per week, and will be required to work a minimum of 3 weekend days of each month. Employee must demonstrate flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by changing business demands. The bakery industry often experiences fluctuating levels of activity, with peak periods during weekends, holidays, and special occasions. Therefore, availability during these times is essential to ensure adequate coverage and meet customer needs. Employees should be willing to adjust their schedules as needed to accommodate the bakery's operational requirements and provide reliable support to the team.
