Not A Very Good Teacher designs innovative and engaging educational products that foster curiosity and learning for children through play. By focusing on creativity, critical thinking, and fun, the company encourages kids to explore leadership, STEM, and military career paths. Notable products include Mission Match®, an interactive card game that connects children (ages 6 ) to real-world opportunities, and Mission Match – Adventures in Service, a children's book blending stories, activities, and digital resources. As a veteran-founded organization, Not A Very Good Teacher is committed to inspiring the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and problem-solvers.


BLUF: We are seeking high-performing, creative interns to support the design, development, and rollout of a new RPG product line tied to Mission Match and the broader NAVGT ecosystem. This is a hands-on role working directly with leadership, creative direction, and external partners to bring a commercially viable game to market.


Desired Qualifications

o Game Design, Game Studies, or Interactive Media

o Creative Writing, Storytelling, or Narrative Design

o RPG systems (tabletop or digital)

o Educational or purpose-driven games

o Think creatively and execute quickly

o Work in a fast-paced startup environment

o Experience with Unity, tabletop prototyping, or card game design


Performance Outcomes (What Success Looks Like)

• Contributed to a playable RPG prototype within 60–90 days

• Delivered at least one narrative module or mission set

• Supported live playtesting event execution

• Provided actionable feedback incorporated into final product


Ideal Candidate Profile (Top 3 Interns Target)

• Builder mindset (not just academic)

• Passion for games with real-world impact

• Comfortable operating with ambiguity and ownership

• Excited about shaping a new category of educational RPGs
