position is to assist with recreational therapy activities and groups
within the hospital unit for patient physical, mental, social and
psychological well-being. The work is performed under the supervision of
the Occupational Therapist (OTR). This position is scheduled

Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position.
These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other
duties may be required and assigned. 1. Transport residents to and from
activities. Assist, encourage and motivate residents to participate in
daily activity programs, both individual and in groups according to
established calendar of events. 2. Set up and take down
equipment/supplies for activities. 3. Cover activities on weekends,
holiday\'s and in the absence of the OTR. 4. Follow the calendar of
events for the weekend activities on the hospital unit. 5. Work with the
Social Workers on the weekends to do group and individual therapy with
patients. 6. Maintain activity attendance records and chart progress. 7.
Report decline in patient participation and status to the nursing staff
and OTR when necessary. 8. Participate in treatment team meetings as
needed. 9. Responsible to know and practice the Safety policies of the
County and Norwood. Perform all job tasks in a safe and prescribed
Manner. Additional Tasks And Responsibilities While The Following Tasks
are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part
of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit
members. 1. Assist volunteers. 2. Assist with long term care unit
activities, as needed. 3. Attend required meetings and complete
in-service training as assigned. 4. Communicates and interacts
professionally, effectively and tactfully with residents, patients,
visitors, families and peers. 5. If current on the nurse aide registry
(CNA), may work additional hours as a psych tech. 6. Any other duties as
may be assigned. \*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: -Prior
work experience providing recreational activities in groups or
individually, preferably with persons with mental illness preferred.
