What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Research Analyst - Information Warfare - Norwich University position at Norwich University?
Norwich University's Lead Research Analyst in Information Warfare will develop and coordinate the Norwich University Information Warfare/Operations Initiative in collaboration with Norwich University Applied Research Institutes. This position reports to the Peace and War Center Director with additional reporting responsibilities to the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Norwich University.
Duties will include
Project Management
- Request or acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the project
- Manage and respond to project related email
- Attend project meetings
- Attend seminars and other meetings as necessary
- Summarize project results
- Prepare progress reports for the PI and funding agency
- Prepare other articles, reports, and presentations
- Monitor the project budget
- Communicate progress and overall status during weekly calls
- Efficiently learn in-house software/services and assist in identifying ways to automate and improve work flows with the development team
- Deliver concise, high-quality reports, presentations, and other communications materials for management and cross functional teams internally and externally
- Build relationships with outside clients and government representatives
- Collaborate with team members across line of business and cross functional teams
- Facilitate discussions and action across functional teams
Information Warfare Internship and Summer Programming
- Organize call for Information Warfare Internship applications
- Interview candidates for Information Warfare Internship
- Organize content analysis and subject matter training for Information Warfare Research Lab
- Document and report progress and processes of the IW Research Lab
- Monitor and evaluate intern performance and feedback
- Provide/organize professional development opportunities for interns
- Develop / organize external employment / internship opportunities for IW students
- Assist in planning / managing Information Warfare Exercise and OSINT Academy
Teaching
- Responsible for teaching 2 of the 3 Information Warfare courses: IWAR 320 Social Media-Based Influence (Fall) and IWAR 328 Information Warfare Threat (Spring)
- Assist in developing and updating curricula for IWAR courses
- Assist teaching any other information warfare-related courses as necessary
Research and analysis
- Perform data management through research and analysis
- Conduct literature reviews
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis with the team; prioritization, analysis, recommend solutions
- Author reports and publications advancing IO/IW research and development goals
- Lead internal Information Warfare research agenda
- Initiate and coordinate projects with external partners
Job Requirements:
- Advanced degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
- Demonstrate creativity and the ability to pilot new ideas and projects
- Ability to influence stakeholders to accomplish objectives
- Ability to work multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel and Access
- Excellent communications skills - oral, written, listening, etc.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a large research team
- At least one year of related research experience preferred
- Have a keen eye for detail and organization
- Experience teaching in some capacity
Desired Skills & Experience
- Some leadership experience is preferred
- Remote working experience
- Cyber and Information Warfare education/experience is a plus, but not a prerequisite
- Experience with OSINT and working with social media data
- Experience in data analysis
