Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by assisting with planning, organizing, managing, and providing administrative direction and operational oversight of the Office of Financial Aid and the operation of the Financial Aid Management System (FAMS), Banner Financial Aid, ensuring that procedures and software reflect current federal and state regulations for operation of Title IV program(s). This position requires a strong understanding of regulations pertaining to the administration of Title IV funds. This position focuses on the processing and administration of federal, state, and institutional aid programs and assists the Senior Associate Director to ensure the University remains current with regulations, and operations are effective, efficient, and student-centered. In addition, this position will support and counsel students.

This is a 40 hour per week and 52 weeks per year 1.0 FTE position.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees financial aid systems, in conjunction with our Associate Director, managing system modifications needed to support updated federal and state regulations and ensure timely and efficient financial aid services
  • Works closely with Associate Director on mass processing, pushing, and pulling of data from DOE, and improving efficiencies in office procedures
  • Assists in the review of current practices and procedures and aide in the implementation of improved efficiencies in the Office of Financial Aid
  • Manages alternative loan program and maintenance, including meeting with lender representatives, completing RFI process and maintaining web presence, etc.
  • Assists with developing, revising, and updating processes of financial aid related to Title IV program administration along with creating and/or editing any required forms and publications
  • Provides training to Financial Aid Advisors and other department staff and campus partners as needed.
  • Develops and implements ongoing training programs for the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Ensures compliance with all Federal Title IV regulations, develops, and maintains policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of financial aid systems and adjusts operations as necessary to meet student needs.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and reviews recommendations with Associate Director; assists with implementation.

  • Communicates with employees, students, and others in a respectful and clear manner.
  • Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups or other designated bodies as assigned.
  • Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
  • Speaks, reads and writes in English.
  • Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, comparable years of experience are considered
  • 4 years of experience in higher education student services, preferably financial aid, other
  • relevant experience acceptable
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Banner financial aid management system or similar system and experience with both residential and on-line students preferred
  • Knowledge in student financial aid regulations
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook)
  • Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 15 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus
  • Work some evening or weekend hours

  • Indoor work at a computer workstation
  • Low level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.

Salary : $46,364 - $68,152
