About Us
Norumbega Moving & Storage is a white-glove interstate moving and storage company based in Southwest Harbor, serving Mount Desert Island, coastal Maine, and destinations nationwide. We operate our own FMCSA interstate authority and a ~20,000 sq ft managed storage facility. Clients trust us with high-value belongings, and we've built our reputation on doing this work at a standard most moving companies don't attempt. We're a small, close-knit team and we're looking for people who take pride in doing things right.
The Role
This is a hands-on, physically demanding job for someone who shows up ready to work and cares about the details. You'll pack, load, transport, and deliver household goods across MDI, coastal Maine, and on interstate long-haul runs. Experience in the moving industry is a plus, but we will train the right candidate to become a professional mover. What we can't train is attitude, we need people who are reliable, coachable, and treat every client's home like their own.
What You'll Do
Pack, wrap, carry, load, and deliver furniture, boxes, and equipment — up and down stairs, across varying terrain, in all weather
Move 50 lbs constantly throughout the day, with heavier team lifts as needed
Deliver immaculate customer service
Work with precision and attention to detail; how items are wrapped, labeled, and stacked matters here
Support warehouse operations, including receiving and vault storage
Travel on interstate long-haul runs
What We're Looking For
Reliable, punctual, and willing to work long hours when the schedule demands it
Professional, clean, courteous presentation and a positive attitude
Excellent customer service skills
Sharp attention to detail
Ability to operate with minimal supervision in a team environment
Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly, with higher amounts occasionally
Box truck driving experience a plus
Valid driver's license preferred
High school diploma or equivalent
Able to pass a lifting assessment and background check
Growth Path
This position is built for long-term employment with a clear path forward. Strong performers can advance toward Crew Lead, running their own jobs and crews. If you don't have a Class B CDL, we'll support your effort to get one. We'll train you in all aspects of the moving and storage industry, including our warehouse management platform and NMS packing and handling standards.
Pay & Benefits
$20–$25/hour depending on experience, plus tips
Long-haul days: minimum 10 hours of pay guaranteed
$50 per diem on overnight trips — hotel fully covered by NMS
Paid time off: 3 weeks starting, 4 weeks after 3 years
Guaranteed end-of-year bonus based on company performance, position, and KPIs
$100 annual work shoe allowance
On-site gym, shower, and lockers at our warehouse facility

Referral bonus: refer a hire who completes 90 days and you both get a bonus

Schedule
Monday–Friday day shifts, 8 hours, with overtime available. Long-haul runs involve overnight travel.
