Purpose of Position:

To provide direct support to the BHS Village-Based Counselors (VBC) and Behavioral Health Clinical Associates through management of clinical services and facilitation of clinical needs.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide clinical supervision and support to fully credentialed Behavioral Health Clinical Associates and to Clinical Associates (CA) and VBCs obtaining Behavioral Health Aid (BHA) and/or Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDC) certification via distance and on- site delivery, as appropriate and approved 
  • Conduct on- and off- site training programs per the terms for CAs and VBCs that complement agency identified credentialing bodies and other educational and training programs supporting BHA and/or CDC certification; develop training plans for CA and VBC student programs collaboratively with the VBC Field Supervisor(s)
  • Attend and participate in daily rounding to identify VBCs and CAs to provide care for customer owners needing support in the Acute Care Unit, ED, villages, and other locations as laid out in policies and procedures; ensure all CAs and VBCs are assigned to priority populations including anyone presenting with SMI, SED, or SUD concerns; and oversee the involvement of CAs and VBCs in discharge planning for individuals leaving the Acute Care Unit to ensure continuity of care upon return to home communities
  • Provide oversight to staff to ensure all documentation is compliant with state, federal, accrediting, billing, and requirements/regulations
  • Facilitate weekly staff meetings and provide individual and group supervision to VBCs and CAs; ensuring supervision and care is culturally competent; overseeing clinical decisions regarding the welfare of clients including placement needs and welfare checks
  • Abide by the NAADAC Ethical Standards as adopted by the Alaska Commission for Chemical Dependency Professionals Certification, Organization and Agency Staff Code of Conduct, and Licensing boards, and maintain confidentiality of BHS records and treatment
  • Support program compliance with accreditation standards, state, and federal licensure requirements and regulations including Medicaid/Medicare standards, HIPPA regulations, and 42 CFR Part IIAttend and participate in BHS Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement meetings 
  • Complete and provide timely information for board and grant reports as needed to the Clinical Director and Administrative Directorattend strategic plan meetings as appropriate/necessary
  • Maintain a modest caseload and support On-Call services as needed
  • Maintain quality and efficiency standards of all work performed
  • Complete employee evaluations in collaboration with the Administrative VBC Supervisor

  • Clinical management experience in a Tribal Behavioral/Community Mental Health agency, preferably with Native Alaskans.

Physical Requirements:

  • Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment

  • See and hear with normal acuity.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Work is conducted in a standard office environment.
  • Some travel is required (between 25 and 50% of the time)
  • Travel is done via large aircraft
  • Travel is done via small (less than 16 passenger) aircraft
  • Travel is done using snow mobiles, al-terrain vehicles or boat
