Phlebotomist - Certified

Position Title: Certified Phlebotomist

Department: Laboratory

Reports To: Laboratory Manager

Purpose of Position:

Identify patients and match those patients with test requests, performing sample collection and providing a pleasant patient experience and quality specimens to the laboratory; Accept specimens from other departments and villages and transmit samples and receive results from various reference laboratories.

Essential Functions:

• Ensure absolute patient identification and match with required test; perform specimen collection, ensuring high customer service and strict attention to accuracy, integrity, and quality
• Receive specimens from other NSHC entities, ensuring quality of specimens
• Schedule patients for testing to maximize best use of laboratory resources while making thte best possible accommodation for the needs of the patients
• Perform drug testing and waived screening
• Prepare specimens for shipment to reference laboratories
• Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:

Working Conditions:

∙Work is conducted in a standard clinical environment to include exposure to latex, biohazrd or other harmful substances
