Purpose of Position:
The Developmental Therapist provides direct services for the NSHC Early Intervention/Infant Learning Program grant for children age birth to three years who experience a developmental delay or disability. The Developmental Therapist works with families and other providers who jointly service children enrolled to receive EI/ILP services. The program provides services in Nome and 15 communities throughout the Norton Sound region.

Essential Functions:
Developmental Therapist I:
With direct clinical supervision:
- Serve as Family Service Coordinator during intake, eligibility determination, and throughout enrollment.
- Conduct evaluation, assessment and family assessments, based on field of practice.
- Write developmental evaluation report and determine eligibility for Part C services.
- Coorinate and participate in Cheild Outcome Summary ratings.
- Develop, revise ,review and renew IFSP, including present levels of development, family assessment, writing outcomes,goals and strategies
Transition planning, determining services and gethering signatures.
- Provide coaching and intervention to eligible children and families, based on field of practice.
- Facilitate transition out of ILP at age 3.
Developmental Therapist II:
- All requirements of a Development Therapist I
- Supervise or mentor Developmental Associates and Developmental Therapists

Minimum Requirements:
Developmental Therapist I: SEED (Alaska System for Early Education Development) Level 9
- Bachelor's degree in a related field: Applied Behavior Analysis, Child Development and Family Studies, Early Childhood development, Early Intervention, Elementary Education, social work, Special education: early childhood, elementary or K-8, or other related fields as determined by the State ILP office.
- SEED TRAINING PLAN to be developed and approved by state TA staff within 3 months of hire
Developmental Therapist II: SEED (Alaska System for Early Education Development) Level 10
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with certification or license, or
- Master’s degree in a related field without certification.
- Developmental Therapist Credential[MK1] online modules must be completed
within 6 months of hire
- Developmental Therapist Credential must be completed within the first 12 months of hire.
Physical Requirements:
∙ Physically be able to operate office or clinical equipment
∙Sit less than half the workday
∙Stand and/or walk more than half the workday
∙Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach
∙Lift or carry unaided less than 25 pounds
∙Push or pull using up to moderate force
Working Conditions:
∙Work is conducted in a standard office environment and a standard
clinical environment to include exposure to latex, biohazard or other
harmful substances∙
Private home based services if family and/or caregiver approves.
Some travel may be required, 50% of the time.
∙Travel is required via large aircraft
∙Travel is required via small (less than 16 passenger) aircraft
∙Travel is required using snowmobiles, all terrain vehicles, or boat
∙Travel may be conducted in inclement weather contitions
