Purpose of Position:

Under direct supervision of a licensed behavioral health Clinician or psychologist, provides access to and delivers behavioral health services, within a defined scope of practice to Bering Straits residents, including, but not limited to, individual/group counseling, case management for substance abuse and mental health concerns, substance use assessments and treatment planning, community development, prevention, wellness education, and supervision. The Clinical Associate Practitioner will demonstrate and be assisted in the essential functions of the position.

Essential Functions:

Under the supervision and by the direction of the clinical supervisor and administrative supervisor the Clinical Associate Practitioner shall demonstrate and apply the following functions: 

 

  • Provide and document participation in the following inpatient and outpatient services: 
  1. Routine client contact, screening, assessment, and evaluation
  2. Treatment planning 
  3. Case consultation
  4. Case management, coordination, and monitoring treatment plan 
  5. Client and community engagement 
  6. Prevention, community education, and community organizing 
  7. Community resources and referrals

 

  • Provide and document participation in crisis management services
  • Engage, complete, and practice the skills and knowledge offered through the Behavioral Health Aide (BHA) and/or Chemical Dependency Counselor (CDC) programs
  • Provide mentorship, training, and professional development
  • Submit CARF and Medicaid compliant documentation in a timely manner.  
  • Continue to pursue training opportunities and seek more credentialing and skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge:

Job Specific knowledge is listed below:

  • Knowledge of behavioral health issues and community strengths in the Bering Straits region.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Tribal law, regulations, rules, policies, and processes. Including substantial knowledge of relevant specialized fields such as 42 CFR and HIPPA requirements. 
  • Capacity to communicate with respect and empathy
  • Capacity for accessing and utilizing educational opportunities
  • Knowledge of general client care activities
  • Knowledge of documentation requirements for record compliance
  • Ability to use technology

Minimum Requirements

 

CA Trainee (Grade 4)

            High School Diploma

            BLS within 3 months of hire

            1 Year full time employment

CA I (Grade 5)

            All the requirements of a Trainee

            6 months as a Clinical Associate Trainee

            BHA I certification

CA II (Grade 6)

            All the requirements of a CA I

            6 months as a CA I

            BHA II certification

CA III (Grade 7)

            All the requirements of a CA II

            6 Months as a CA II

            BHA III certification

CA Practitioner (Grade 8)

            All the requirements of a CA III

            1 year as a CA III

            BHP certification

 

 

 

Physical Requirements:

∙Use hands and arms to operate office or clinical equipment

∙Sit more than half the workday

∙Stand and/or walk less than half the workday

∙Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach

∙Use hands and arms for repetitive motion tasks

∙Lift or carry unaided less than 25 pounds

∙See and hear with normal acuity

 

Working Conditions:

∙Work is conducted in a standard office environment

∙Minimal travel is required (less than 25% of the time)

  • Via large aircraft
  • Via small (less than 16 passenger) aircraft, and/or
  • Via snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, or boat
