Responsibilities
The Manager, Facility Nursing Education plans, implements, and evaluates the needs of student/staff hired in the Critical Care, Emergency, Medical-Surgical, and Surgical departments for Norton Healthcare. This individual works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care teams to meet education needs and is responsible for competency and skills related to clinical specialties. The Mgr, Facility Nursing Education utilizes age-appropriate principles of learning and growth in the development and planning of education and provision of patient care. The educator’s role calls for skill in teaching and supervision. This individual acts in a leadership role, overseeing the facility educators, and functions as a resource liaison between the facility and the Institute for Education and Development. The Mgr, Facility Nursing Education needs to be an expert practitioner and an innovator of new concepts applicable to specialty services. The individual is also responsible for staff CEU and classroom didactic education and serves as a role model teacher/advisor for caregivers.
Key Responsibilitites:
- Ensure successful implementation of system/facility initiatives Lead system and education programs in specialty and represent their facility NHC Institute of Nursing on appropriate committees or as a liaison to other departments.
- Demonstrate thoughtful prioritization of matters to be addressed, sequence steps to accomplish tasks in an orderly fashion, allocate appropriate time to execute tasks, and communicate process appropriately inside and outside the organization. Demonstrate the ability to creatively and appropriately use resources to meet the business objectives of the department facility and Norton Healthcare.
- Clearly communicate the parameters for work scope and authority to execute action. Assign tasks and responsibility in a fair and equitable manner; demonstrate skill of communication as illustrated by effective programs to assure staff under their direction understands how they need to perform their job and are aware of changes in policy and procedure.
- Monitor and anticipate change to make timely and adaptive decisions. Consistently identify work processes and priorities in alignment with Norton Healthcare’s strategic plan. Ensure that quality standards/guidelines are met.
Qualifications
Required:
- Three (3) years of experience in academic or clinical education, or in area of nursing specialty.
- Bachelor Degree
- Registered Nurse
Desired:
- Three (3) years of experience in adult learning or practice governance structures
- Master Degree
