Infant & Toddler Teacher

Northwood Early Learning Center is seeking a dependable, nurturing, and energetic Infant & Toddler Teacher to provide high-quality care and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for infants and toddlers.

The ideal candidate will be patient, attentive, reliable, and passionate about early childhood education. This position requires an individual who understands the unique developmental, emotional, and physical needs of infants and toddlers and is committed to maintaining a safe, loving, and engaging classroom environment.

The Infant & Toddler Teacher will:

• Provide attentive and responsive supervision of infants and toddlers at all times.
• Maintain proper staff-to-child ratios and follow all Maryland Office of Child Care licensing requirements.
• Create and implement developmentally appropriate activities that encourage cognitive, language, social-emotional, sensory, and physical development.
• Establish nurturing relationships with each child and respond appropriately to individual needs and cues.
• Follow individual feeding, diapering, toileting, sleeping, and care schedules.
• Properly prepare, handle, label, and store bottles, food, and other feeding supplies according to center policies and licensing requirements.
• Complete diaper changes and other personal-care routines while following required sanitation and hygiene procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary, and developmentally appropriate classroom.
• Closely supervise children during classroom activities, meals, transitions, outdoor play, and rest periods.
• Complete daily reports and maintain accurate records regarding meals, bottles, diaper changes, naps, activities, and other required information.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with parents and guardians regarding their child's day, development, needs, and concerns.
• Observe children and promptly report developmental, behavioral, health, or safety concerns to administration.
• Follow Northwood Early Learning Center policies regarding positive guidance and appropriate interactions with children.
• Follow all health, safety, emergency, medication, incident-reporting, and supervision procedures.
• Work cooperatively with co-teachers, aides, administration, and other staff.
• Participate in classroom cleaning and sanitizing responsibilities.
• Attend required staff meetings, professional development, and continuing education.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
• Perform other child-care-related duties as assigned by the Director.

Applicants must meet or be able to document the applicable Maryland Office of Child Care requirements for qualification as an Infant/Toddler Child Care Teacher, including:

• High school diploma, high school equivalency, or qualifying college education.
• 90 clock hours of approved early childhood education/child development coursework and the required Infant/Toddler coursework, or another education/training pathway accepted by the Maryland Office of Child Care.
• Required training in areas such as communication, ADA compliance, and supporting breastfeeding practices, as applicable.
• Required qualifying experience working with young children, or an approved education/experience equivalent.
• Ability to successfully complete all required criminal background checks, child abuse/neglect clearances, and other Maryland child care employment requirements.
• Current or completed health and safety training as required by Maryland regulations.
• CPR and First Aid certification as required by the center and/or Maryland regulations.
• Completion of all continuing-training requirements necessary to maintain qualification.

Applicants must provide documentation of their education, training, certifications, and experience for review and approval as required by the Maryland State Department of Education Office of Child Care.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
