The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting doctors in providing care to patients. Their duties include escorting patients to their room, obtaining and documenting vital signs, performing phlebotomy, processing laboratory specimens, and ensuring standard care procedures are completed and patient files are updated. They are responsible for making sure patient rooms are cleaned, stocked, and organized. They will assist doctors with standard office procedures and minor surgeries.
Essential Responsibilities- Take patients to their rooms and document patient vitals and chief complaints
- Perform phlebotomy procedures, including venipuncture and specimen collection
- Accurately label, process, prepare, and package laboratory specimens for transport and testing
- Maintain specimen integrity and ensure compliance with laboratory and infection control protocols
- Prepare, update, and document employee medical reports, including entering outside labs
- Perform and document all standard care procedures, including in-house testing and injections
- Clean and stock patient rooms with all necessary medical supplies
- Set up and assist doctors with standard office procedures and minor surgeries
- Contact patients to schedule follow-up appointments and lab appointments
- Monitor and order medical supplies, maintain booklets, and catalogue all medications
- All other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma required; some college with medical concentration preferred
- Medical Assistant Certification required
- Experience with phlebotomy, specimen collection, processing, and handling preferred
- 2-3 years of prior experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably in an Ob/Gyn office
- Superior customer service and a high level of professionalism in communicating with patients
- Technological skills, including experience with electronic medical records systems and other programs used to track information and data
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively as a team player

Work Environment
This job primarily operates in a professional medical office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, fax machines and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
