Northwestern Mutual seeks an entry-level Financial Advisor to join our Midtown Manhattan offices. This is a great opportunity open to individuals seeking to begin a career in financial services, including recent college graduates and candidates transitioning from different industry sectors.

As a Financial Advisor, you will prospect for clients and maintain ongoing client relationships with individuals, families, and businesses to offer our diverse portfolio of financial products and services—including financial planning, investment management, insurance, as well as wealth management for high-net-worth clients. The Financial Advisor will be the primary contact for clients, and you will have available to you an experienced team of financial and investment specialists and office support to assist in delivery of services to your clients.

Training & Development

Prior financial services experience is not required – we will train you. The Training & Development Program includes a 3-week training at the start of the position, where you will be introduced to our portfolio of financial products and services and learn effective strategies and practices for early success. Then, once working in the role, you will be able to work alongside an experienced Director in the office who will serve as your mentor on an ongoing basis, allowing you to do your client work jointly with an experienced leader in the office.

Responsibilities:

• Business Development/Sales: establishing relationships with new clients through leads, referrals, and calls
• Meeting with clients to discuss financial planning, including life insurance and investment management
• Delivery of customized financial plans to help clients achieve their financial goals
• Day-to-day client relationship management and financial advisory

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
• Experience in a client/customer-facing role (includes sales, client/investor relations, customer service, etc.)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated interest in the Financial Services sector

Compensation & Benefits:

• This is a commission-based position, meaning your earnings are directly tied to the successful client transactions you complete. High performers have the potential to earn significantly based on the value of the business they close. Average annual earnings of $61K-$119K (based on 2018-2023 company average for representatives in the first 3 years).
