About The Job
This role manages and trades NM’s cash portfolios, ensuring daily liquidity, timely and accurate execution, and effective coordination across the daily cash trading cycle. Responsibilities include managing NM’s repo program and trading Treasury securities and futures. The position works closely with the Cash Portfolio Manager, Middle Office, Investment Operations, Treasury, Accounting, and Portfolio Managers across Public Investments.

About The Job
This role manages and trades NM’s cash portfolios, ensuring daily liquidity, timely and accurate execution, and effective coordination across the daily cash trading cycle. The position works closely with the Cash Portfolio Manager, Middle Office, Investment Operations, Treasury, Accounting, and Portfolio Managers across Public Investments.
What You'll Do
- Cash Management: Invest and manage NM’s cash portfolios daily within each mandate, including yield optimization, execution, allocation, compliance monitoring, liquidity management, and settlement issue resolution. Develop expertise in cash markets, including commercial paper, money market funds, and repo.
- Repo Program: Negotiate rate and manage lent collateral with approved counterparties. Monitor compliance with daily mark-to-market and counterparty limits while maximizing income from the portfolio within prudent risk management parameters.
- Treasury Securities and Futures Trading: Execute Treasury security and Treasury futures trades as directed by Portfolio Managers, ensuring timely, accurate execution aligned with broader interest rate strategy.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics or related field.
- Experience with commercial paper and repo markets, money market funds, and a strong understanding of yield curves and Federal Reserve policy.
- Must be able to meet the time requirements of the role, which generally entails the working hours of 6am-4pm CT.
- Experience with Bloomberg, Excel, or similar systems desired.
- Ability to work independently and calmly in a deadline-driven daily cycle. Strong collaboration skills across teams and ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external business partners.
- Exceptional attention to detail, reliability, and strong oral and written communication skills.
- Desire and ability to improve processes while leveraging technology and data.
- Accountability: Holds self and their direct reports accountable for measurable, high-quality, timely, and cost-effective results, delivery, and execution. Determines objectives, sets priorities, delegates work to direct reports, and accepts responsibility for mistakes.
- Attention to Detail: Focuses on specific details to spot and correct errors in advance of them being found and surpass quality expectations. Performs work with thorough proofreading for presentation, content, accuracy, and overall quality.
- Cross Functional Partnering & Planning: Facilitates collaboration, communication, coordination, and planning with individuals and teams from different functions within the organization, and who have different areas of expertise, to achieve common goals.
- Financial Market Monitoring: Consistently tracks and analyzes financial market data and news, evaluates trends and events that may impact investment portfolios or financial decisions, and makes informed decisions based on this information. Stays up to date on economic indicators, market news, and global events, and understands how they relate to investment opportunities and risks.
- Storytelling through Data: Communicates insights and opportunities from a dataset, using narratives, visualizations, and analysis.
