Controller
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The Controller is responsible to provide both operational and programmatic support to the organization and is accountable for the overall financial health and day-to-day accounting functions of the network office. The accounting duties may also include district network office(s). This role works collaboratively with other members of the finance team, including the Finance Manager, external Consultants and Centralized Accounting Services (CAS) teams. The Controller will also collaborate closely with leadership team to help shape the culture and provide strategic insight to help grow the firm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Manage the finance, consulting, accounting team that handles day-to-day operations and audit/approve tasks.
- Ensure and account for the accuracy of the accounting records.
- Create, update, and maintain annual budgets for all offices to be used for strategic planning.
- Provide monthly reporting packages and presentations for monthly and quarterly finance review with MDs and leadership team with comparison to budget in addition to providing strategic and operational recommendations.
- Quarterly deep dives with MP and MDs
- Ability to produce financial modeling when required.
- Manage review of accounts payable to properly plan cash flow so that expenses are paid in a timely fashion.
- Audit reconciled credit card accounts and track expense approvals, including categorizing the expenses and maintaining alignment with chart of accounts.
- Monitor, track, and communicate all active financial representative debt on a timely basis.
- Manage commission cycle special commission requests to CAS and cash flow.
- Manage banking activities of office including securing loans.
- Understand and train new financial representatives on compensation including MDs and MPs contracts.
- Act as Finance team liaison to coordinate with internal and external departments.
- Oversee preparation and mail annual 1099 statements for contracted financial representatives.
- Work with CPA to prepare and manage quarterly tax submissions to the IRS.
- Work with CPA in preparation and filing of annual federal and state tax returns.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Track lease renewals and advise MDs when increase in rent is applicable.
- Reconciliation of operations and accounts such as home office program reimbursements and district cost sharing programs.
- Provide compensation modeling to advisors and leaders.
- Manage company finances including allowance program, implementation and tracking of company contests, and more.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree required- Economics Business and Accounting Degree preferred.
- Experience in accounting, financial modeling, budgeting, including general ledger maintenance; three or more years preferred.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, and technologically savvy.
- Knowledge of standard accounting software, including QuickBooks personal finance software, preferred.
- Strong presentation, persuasion, problem-solving, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong personal code of ethics, including maintaining confidentiality.
- High self-motivation, strong organization skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to adapt and learn in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work well on a team and maintain a positive attitude.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
