What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Research Opportunity - Neural Circuit Function and Neuromodulatory Signaling position at Northwestern Department of Neurological Surgery?
March 13, 2026
The Augustin Laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology at Northwestern University is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scholar to join our neuroscience research program focused on neural circuit function and neuromodulatory signaling. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in ex vivo Fast-Scan Cyclic Voltammetry (FSCV) or fiber photometry. Our laboratory integrates electrophysiology, neurochemical monitoring, and behavioral assays to study how misused substances, such as alcohol and THC, impact neuromodulatory systems to influence circuit function. The postdoctoral scholar will have access to a collaborative and interdisciplinary team, and opportunities to attend conferences to support their career development.
The Augustin laboratory is part of the Feinberg School of Medicine and is located on the downtown campus of Northwestern University. Northwestern offers a collaborative environment filled with innovations, making Northwestern an ideal research institution for advanced training.
The position requires a PhD degree in neuroscience, cellular/molecular biology, or a relevant field of study. The candidate is expected to work independently in a collaborative environment, once trained. Strong organizational skills are needed.
To apply, please send a statement of interest, curriculum vitae, and request at least two letters of recommendation to be submitted separately at shana.augustin@northwestern.edu with subject line Applicant Name_Postdoc Position.
