Transfer Admissions Counselor

About the Job

Northwest University is seeking a Transfer Admissions Counselor who is responsible for recruiting prospective transfer students, primarily from community colleges. This person joins students in the process of discerning their next steps, supporting them towards God's call for their lives as they work to complete their bachelor's degree. As a front-line representative in the on-campus Undergraduate Admissions team, this position professionally represents Northwest University through excellent customer service to prospective transfer students, community college advisors, parents, influencers, and other constituents. This is a full-time non-exempt position at 1.0 FTE.

Essential Functions

Actively build and manage a full portfolio of prospective transfer students through developing and implementing a successful Recruitment Plan for a designated geographic territory that meets or exceeds annual enrollment goals. This is accomplished through the following strategies:

1. Utilize the University's Salesforce-based CRM to manage prospective transfer student contact through varied communication including electronic, written, telephone, and SMS. Initiate frequent communication from first inquiry through enrollment, consistently expressing the value of a Christ-centered education at Northwest University.
2. Proactively schedule frequent visits to community colleges, transfer fairs, church events, and other community organizations, to build and sustain relationships with prospective students, advisors, and counselors. In collaboration with the Admissions Team, represent the University at regional transfer and other college fairs.
3. Meet with prospective students and families during individual visits, give presentations during on- and off-campus visits, and facilitate admissions events.
4. Review application files of transfer students from designated territories. Prepare preliminary transcript reviews and make recommendations on admissibility, transfer credit, and class standing.
5. Complete unofficial transcript evaluations for prospective transfer students, using the Transfer Equivalency System (TES) and knowledge of block transfer and course-by-course policies to help students understand how their credits will apply toward a Northwest University degree. 
6. Perform other work-related duties as assigned. 

Education/Experience/Skills

1. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, sales, communication, or a related field.
2. Experience in university admissions, marketing, or sales is desirable.
3. Ability to adapt work hours to accommodate the demands of the admissions calendar, including frequent evenings and some weekends.
4. Have or develop thorough knowledge of the university’s mission, scholarships, academic programs, campus ministries, extracurricular activities, athletics, and other aspects of university life.
5. Excellent presentation/public speaking and written communication skills.
6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Salesforce-based CRM.
7. Experience with college-age students or young professionals.
8. Flexibility to respond to changing market environment and to work collaboratively in a team environment.
9. Highly organized and efficient.
10. Valid Driver’s License required.
11. Reliable car for travel throughout Washington State.
12. Demonstrate commitment to maintaining a safe work environment free of harassment, violence, and unlawful discrimination
13. Ability to communicate effectively, get along well with co-workers, and deal effectively and professionally with colleagues

Working Environment

1. Frequent evening/weekend time commitments are required.
2. Travel, including overnight travel, is required. 
3. Position works with strictly confidential information.
4. Frequently required to be in front of a computer screen for long periods of time.

Physical Demands

1. Position involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
2. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
3. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Must be able to convey detailed or important spoken instructions or information to others.

Compensation

Based on education and experience, the position has a hiring range of $22.11/hour to $22.83/hour plus excellent benefits.
