Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Licensed Psychologist to join our dynamic Child Advocacy Center and Special Investigations Unit. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive psychological assessments, evidence-based therapy, and crisis intervention services to diverse populations of child and adult victims of sexual abuse/assault as well as severe physical harm. Your expertise will help individuals of all ages—children, adolescents, adults, and seniors—navigate mental health challenges, trauma-related conditions, and behavioral health issues resulting from their trauma. This position also offers partial scheduling of independent clients outside of the CAC/SIU.

**Please note, this is a position that is not paid for through the Northwest Unit for Special Investigations. This is a partnership offering office space, waiting room, and coordination of reception staff for a licensed psychologist to hold their licensed practice. This position is independent of NUSI, and all billing, charting, and other clerical duties are the sole responsiblity of the licensed psychologist. NUSI would be offering space at a highly reduced rate with ample parking and flexible working hours. The licensed psychologist must be willing to work with the Vermont Center for Crime Victim Services for any victims compensation claims for payment. We encourage a sliding fee scale to assist victims of all economic levels.

This position is primarily to accept therapy referrals to victims of crime that NUSI serves with the flexibility to also hold a partial private client schedule out of the same location. NUSI is open to a part-time or full-time space sharing scenario.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments and psychological testing
  • Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy interventions such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, addiction counseling, and behavioral health strategies tailored to individual needs
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support for patients experiencing acute mental health episodes or emergencies
  • Develop personalized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices and monitor progress through regular patient assessments
  • Collaborate with medical professionals, social workers, educators, and families to coordinate holistic care plans and ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical ethical guidelines
  • Maintain records to provide to the administrative coordinator for data entry that aligns with HIPAA regulations
  • Attend a monthly MDT meeting providing feedback and resources to the investigatory and service providing members of the team

Skills

  • Extensive experience in child & family counseling, including working with children
  • Strong crisis intervention skills for managing acute psychiatric episodes or trauma-related emergencies
  • Expertise in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), evidence-based interventions in treatment planning, and psychotherapy techniques
  • Knowledge of PTSD care strategies for trauma survivors across diverse populations
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders in clinical or educational environments
  • Skilled in telehealth therapy delivery using HIPAA-compliant platforms for remote patient care
  • Familiarity with mental health diagnostics, psychological testing, and individual psychological assessments
  • Ability to conduct intake evaluations efficiently while adhering to clinical ethical guidelines
  • Experience working with children, geriatrics, school-aged populations or individuals with trauma-related disorders is highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills for client engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration
