What are the responsibilities and job description for the PT - Center Custodian position at Northwest Tennessee Head Start/EHS?
Purpose Statement: The center custodian ensures that children, families, and staff learn and work in a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment.
1. Keep the center and outside area clean, sanitary, and aseptic daily by:
- Removing trash and rubbish from the building
- Sweeping and mopping floors and vacuuming carpets
- Cleaning bathrooms and water fountains
- Sweeping sidewalks and entrance area to the center or building
- Removing rocks, paper, etc., from the playground for center-based site(s) only
- Removing debris from around the building
- Making minor repairs to the center and playground for center-based site(s) only
2. Ensure the building and grounds are attractive, well maintained and meet all required codes both environmental and fire.
3. Attend program workshops pertaining, but not limited to the position.
4. Work harmoniously and effectively with center staff, parents, and children.
5. Operate both indoor and outdoor heavy cleaning equipment and the use of chemicals and other cleaning products.
6. Prepare and submit required paperwork by established deadlines.
7. Preserve the confidentiality and integrity of all program information.
8. Attendance is an essential function of your day-to-day responsibility and commitment to the program.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor as this job description is in no way intended to include all responsibilities of the position, but rather to provide a general overview of what is expected of the position holder.
