This position is a full-time 12-month appointment open rank faculty position commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Role Description
As the Director of Nursing Simulation & Skills Lab, you will be the architect of our experiential learning environment – designing, leading, and evolving simulation-based education that bridges the gap between classroom theory and clinical practice. Your leadership will ensure our students graduate not only with knowledge, but with the confidence, critical thinking, and clinical judgment to excel in diverse healthcare settings. In your dual role as faculty, you will inspire students through direct teaching, mentorship, and academic guidance.
Responsibilities
· Lead the strategic planning, development, and daily operations of the Nursing Simulation & Skills Lab.
· Design and implement high-fidelity simulation scenarios, standardized patient experiences, and skills-
based training aligned with course objectives and accreditation standards.
· Collaborate with nursing faculty to integrate simulation into curricula, ensuring seamless alignment with
clinical competencies and course improvement initiatives.
· Oversee lab scheduling, equipment maintenance, and inventory management, including simulation
manikins, task trainers, and AV systems.
· Train and mentor faculty and lab staff in simulation best practices, debriefing techniques, and emerging
technologies.
· Evaluate student performance in lab and simulation settings, providing constructive feedback to support
growth.
· Teach didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction utilizing evidence-based teaching strategies and
technology-enhanced learning platforms, such as Populi.
· Participate in curriculum planning, revision, and evaluation.
· Stay current with trends in simulation pedagogy, nursing education, and healthcare technology that
promotes student learning and growth.
· Actively support the department, including participation in department and College committees.
Qualifications
· Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program, CHSE certification preferred
· Active, unencumbered RN license in the State of Illinois
· Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in nursing education
· Experience leading simulation-based scenario design and debriefing.
· Familiarity with simulation technologies (Laerdal, Gaumard, CAE, SimCapture) lab inventory
management systems, and INASCL standards.
· Experience and knowledge in curriculum development and accreditation processes.
· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Compensation & Benefits
· This position offers a budgeted salary range of $75,000 to $90,000. The pay offered to the selected
candidate will be determined based on factors including experience and qualifications, internal equity
and external market pay for comparable positions,
