What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Interventionist Teacher position at Northwest School District R1?
JOB SUMMARY:
Applicants must hold a current Missouri State Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education 1-6. The Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of Mathematics with special attention to Tier II and III instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create a warm and inviting classroom environment conducive to learning and student success
- Primarily provide high quality Tier II interventions in the area of mathematics with small groups of students; provide Tier III intervention as needed.
- Administer weekly progress monitoring assessment to students
- Communicate with grade level teachers regularly on student progress including possible attendance at Grade level and building level PST meetings
- Work closely with building principal to ensure correct implementation of appropriate intervention strategies (determined at Building PST) as well as establishing caseload (determined at Building PST).
- Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level
- Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
- Provides input for program development
- Support implementation of assessment tools and data management systems
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Hold a valid MO elementary teaching certificate
- Three years of successful classroom experience at the elementary level
- Demonstrate competency in the areas of instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
- Outstanding personal and interpersonal communication skills with students and adults
- Excellent organizational skills
- Competency in basic technology skills
- Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignment in school (schedule, classroom space)
