What are the responsibilities and job description for the Math Instructor position at Northwest Mississippi Community College?
The Mathematics Instructor is a full‐time, 9-month salaried position responsible for teaching Mathematics courses. These responsibilities involve implementing course syllabi, achieving student learning outcomes, evaluating student performance, record-keeping, and related activities. Related activities include, but are not limited to, advising, and participating in recruiting and retention efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Mathematics or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate hours in Mathematics
- Community College teaching experience in Math
- Experience teaching online
- Experience with classroom technology
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills required
REPORTS TO: District Director of Mathematics Instruction
CONTRACT TERM: Nine (9) months
HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Math courses, primarily Intermediate Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, and College Algebra
- Prepare, administer, and grade essays, tests, other assignments, and/or program assessment data
- Maintain a record of student attendance as required by the Mississippi Community College Board
- Submit grades, attendance, and outcomes according to the academic calendar
- Manage timely engagement, grading, and communication
- Participate in departmental meetings and committee assignments
- Complete 15 hours of professional development
- Ability to travel between campus locations
- Establish effective relationships with college administration, faculty, staff, and students.
- Adhere to school policy as set in the Policy and Procedures Manual
- Perform other duties as assigned by the District Director of Mathematics
