Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial HVAC Service Technician to join our growing service team. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and optimizing commercial HVAC equipment and controls for a diverse customer base. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong technical skills, a commitment to customer service, and experience working on commercial HVAC systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems and related controls.
- Service rooftop units, split systems, boilers, chillers, air handling units, exhaust systems, and associated equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and control-related issues and implement effective solutions.
- Replace and repair HVAC components including motors, compressors, contactors, sensors, valves, belts, bearings, and controls.
- Complete service reports, maintenance documentation, and work orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate findings, recommendations, and repair options clearly with customers.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable safety regulations, company standards, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with dispatchers, project managers, and fellow technicians to prioritize service calls and customer needs.
- Participate in after-hours emergency service and on-call rotation as required.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a professional manner.
Required Qualifications
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills on commercial HVAC systems.
- Experience performing maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
- Current EPA Universal Certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls effectively.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lift equipment, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform physical job duties in varying weather conditions.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of experience servicing commercial HVAC systems in a commercial or industrial environment.
- Active Iowa Mechanical License and/or Iowa HVAC/Refrigeration License.
