Location: Canby, Oregon

Employment Type: Full-Time (On-Site)
Shifts available:

Day Shift | Monday – Thursday | 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Position Overview

Northwest Machine Works is seeking a skilled CNC Mill Operator Machinist to join our team. This role is responsible for operating CNC milling machines, supporting setup machinists, and maintaining consistent quality and production flow in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment.

We are a team-oriented shop that values accountability, quality, and continuous improvement. This position requires strong attention to detail, adaptability, and a willingness to support multiple areas of production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC milling machines in a production environment
  • Support setup machinists to maintain efficient job flow
  • Perform in-process inspections and monitor tool wear
  • Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and work instructions
  • Identify and properly use cutting tools and inserts
  • Perform basic deburring and hand finishing as needed
  • Organize and prepare materials, tooling, and fixtures for upcoming jobs
  • Break down and clean machines at the completion of jobs
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Support other departments including materials, inspection, and finishing as needed
  • Work both independently and as part of a team
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support production and business needs

Qualifications

  • Experience operating CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment required
  • Minimum 1-2 years CNC Mill experience.
  • Trade school or formal machinist training preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Basic math skills (measurement, decimals, and basic trigonometry)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, and accountable

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 lbs regularly
  • Frequent use of hands for tools, controls, and measuring instruments
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment including noise, moving machinery, coolant, and metal chips
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Range: $24-$34 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
