Position Overview

NLC Training Specialists play a critical role in shaping the future of our industry by delivering high-impact training that sets the standard for excellence. They protect the integrity of NLC’s proven education model-upholding curriculum quality, instructional excellence, and professional behavior-while consistently bringing our core values to life.

As a Training Specialist, you don’t just teach skills-you build confidence, elevate performance, and develop “First Choice” professionals who represent NLC with pride in front of customers, partners, and industry leaders. You’ll serve as a trusted mentor and influencer, inspiring others to achieve more than they thought possible.

We’re looking for driven coaches, leaders, and trade professionals ready to do more with their expertise. Teaching experience is not required-we invest in you from day one through NLC’s Professional Technical Educator progression program, giving you the tools, training, and mentorship to grow to an elite educator and leader to make a lasting impact.

  • FULL ON-SITE POSITION PROVIDING APPRENTICE-LEVEL TRAINING.
  • TYPICAL 40-HOUR WORKWEEK, SUBJECT TO BUSINESS NEEDS.
  • SETTLE WITHIN A 60-MILE RADIUS OF THE YORK, SC TRAINING CENTER AS REQUIRED BY THE ROLE & ENJOY HOUSING COSTS 23% LOWER THAN THE NATIONAL AVERAGE. RELO ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE.
  • UP TO 30% TRAVEL MAY BE REQUIRED WITH THIS ROLE.

In This Position You Will Have The Opportunity To

  • Conduct field and classroom training.
  • Prepare for knowledge and skill delivery each term in a proactive manner.
  • Maintain updated and current knowledge on all programs and catalogs.
  • Identify short falls and provide solutions ensuring the campus is always ready to deliver training.
  • Work with department leadership to identify and resolve areas of improvement and set professional goals.
  • Identify and recommend innovative approaches to training sessions, such as new materials, methodologies, and activities to enhance the learning experience of our students.
  • Behave in a way that encourages and inspires students and co-workers and contributes to a work environment that promotes teamwork and respect.
  • Represent a “What’s best for the student?” mindset.

Required Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Journeyman lineman (certificate of completion of formalized apprenticeship program required).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience in a leadership role.
  • Good driving record (must be insurable).

Technical Requirements/ Core Competencies

  • Passion for training with ability to effectively train others in a classroom and field environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required NLC certifications (climbing, CPR, First Aid).
  • Proficiency in all programs and course competencies.
  • Knowledge of and/ or certifications in regulations applying to craft trades (OSHA, NECS, etc.)
  • Body weight must not exceed 265 pounds to stay compliant with OSHA fall protection requirements.
  • Personal mobility, manual dexterity, flexibility, and balance to work in a classroom or field setting, stand or sit for extended periods of time, bend and reach to move items weighing up to 65 pounds.
  • Physically capable of repeatedly performing all job functions associated with their craft.
  • Stamina to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to adverse weather conditions and noise.
  • Proficient in the use of computers with ability to easily learn and navigate new software.
  • Commitment to advance through all levels of NLC’s Professional Technical Educator (PTE) progression program.

Salary

  • $129,521 annual salary ($62.27 hourly equivalent), with opportunity for growth in NLC’s Professional Technical Educator (PTE) progression program.
  • Includes an outstanding benefits package and relocation assistance.
