Licensed Mental Health Therapist
Northwest Iowa Counseling – Spencer, Iowa
Northwest Iowa Counseling (NWIAC) is looking for a compassionate and motivated mental health therapist to join our supportive and growing team. This position offers a flexible caseload with the opportunity to provide office-based therapy, school-based services in partnering districts, or a blend of both—giving clinicians the ability to do the work they love in the settings they enjoy most. About Northwest Iowa Counseling
Northwest Iowa Counseling is a locally owned and clinician-led practice that values quality clinical care, strong therapist support, and work-life balance. We currently have:
- A team of 10 clinicians
- 3 partnering school districts
- 3 dedicated administrative staff members handling scheduling, billing, and insurance coordination
- One main office location in Spencer and a nearby satellite office in Estherville
Our goal is simple: we want clinicians to be able to pour into the work they love. We structure our practice so therapists can focus on clinical care while our administrative team supports the rest.
We intentionally maintain a positive, supportive culture where therapists are encouraged to grow professionally, consult with colleagues, and feel supported in their work.
Position Overview
This therapist will provide outpatient mental health services, with the option to provide services across a combination of settings, both in office or school-based.
We work collaboratively with clinicians to build a caseload that fits their strengths and interests. Caseload may include children, adolescents, adults, couples, or families, with flexibility to focus on the populations you feel most comfortable serving while supporting community needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual therapy to clients across the lifespan
- Conduct intake assessments and treatment planning
- Maintain timely clinical documentation
- Collaborate with school staff (for school-based services)
- Participate in team consultation and staff meetings
- Coordinate care with families, medical providers, and community supports as appropriate
We are looking for a candidate who holds full licensure in the state of Iowa (LISW, LMFT, or LMHC) or temporary licensure (LMSW, tLMFT, or tLMHC).
*Clinical supervision provided for temporary licensed clinicians at no cost

Student Loan Support
Northwest Iowa Counseling is an NHSC-approved site, allowing eligible clinicians to apply for the National Health Service Corps Student Loan Repayment Program.
