Medical Assistant – Full Time
Northwest Indiana Occupational Pain and Wellness Center is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant for our Gary, Indiana office.
Responsibilities:
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, including manual blood pressure
- Prepare and administer Toradol injections
- Draw up medications for trigger point injections
- Collect and process urine drug screens
- Prepare upcoming patient schedules, including identifying patients due for copays and drug screens
- Prepare superbills for upcoming appointments, including the appropriate diagnosis codes
- Maintain accurate patient documentation
- Keep exam rooms stocked, clean, and ready for patients
- Assist with maintaining an organized and efficient patient flow
What we're looking for:
- Medical Assistant training or education
- Ability to accurately take a manual blood pressure
- Comfortable drawing up and administering injections
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and diagnosis codes
- Comfortable working with an electronic medical record
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to multitask
- Able to follow instructions and work independently
- Professional and respectful with patients and coworkers
- Willing to learn and be trained
- Previous experience is preferred but not required
