FUNCTION:
The WIC Clinical Assistant serves as the first point of contact for WIC participants, ensuring a welcoming and efficient clinic experience. This role supports daily clinic operations through scheduling, data entry, benefit issuance, and client services. The Clinical Assistant helps facilitate the WIC certification process and ensures all documentation and services are delivered in compliance with federal and state program requirements.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Greet clients in a professional and friendly manner, managing the front desk and clinic flow.
- Schedule and confirm appointments using the Indiana WIC Management Information System (INWIC MIS).
- Assist applicants in completing intake paperwork and screen for basic eligibility (identity, residency, income).
- Collect and enter data, issue eWIC cards, and explain WIC-approved foods and usage.
- Educate clients on WIC services, including downloading and using the WIC mobile app.
- Provide informational materials and referrals to Medicaid, social services, and substance use support programs.
- Perform anthropometric and hemoglobin measurements as trained.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with WIC and HIPAA regulations.
- Promote breastfeeding and support related outreach and education activities.
- Participate in outreach and community events as needed to support WIC program visibility.
- Attend required trainings, in-service education, and staff meetings.
- Assist with maintaining inventory, supplies, and reporting logs.
- Other duties as assigned.
