FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Chief Financial & Strategy Officer, the Director of Finance is a member of the Finance team, you are responsible for ensuring that CoAction’s financial resources are aligned with its strategic goals and objectives. This role oversees CoAction’s financial operations and manages its financial resources. It involves providing strategic guidance and financial analysis to support business decisions, as well as managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance. The Director of Finance
will oversee all compliance and recognition for government (federal, state and local) contracts and private grants, and must be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Manages the monthly close process to ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly financial statements.
- Develops the annual budget in connection with key stakeholders across the organization.
- Responsible for managing the annual audit process with the external audit firm including financial statements, Uniform Guidance, and employee benefit plans.
- Ensures accounts receivable are processed monthly and collected timely.
- Manage spending to budget and grant fund availability.
- Maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
- Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports as requested by staff and/or Board of Directors.
- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
- Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
- Guides accounting staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
- Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
- Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports.
· Maintain an orderly accounting system. · Maintains the chart of accounts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
· Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements. · Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit as requested.
- Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments
commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
- Coordinate all payroll functions.
- Manage and direct accounting staff and processes for the department to ensure efficient operations and achievement of departmental goals and objectives.
- Ensure that company policies and procedures are met.
- Processes payroll as necessary.
- Develop, monitor and revise as needed the plan of work for the Accounting Department
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting
- 10 years as Senior Financial Manager, Director, or Controller experience required
- CPA License preferred
