What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Professor, Aviation Mechanics - Northwest Florida State College position at Northwest Florida State College?
This position is assigned to the Part 147 Aircraft Maintenance Technician School at NWFSC. Applicants must meet the requirements of 14 CFR § 147.19 and 14 CFR § 65.71(a) to be eligible for this position. This position is responsible for curriculum development, delivery of lecture and lab exercises, assessment, and record keeping of all students assigned to the class.
- Directly supervise all students assigned to AMT 0701 General I, AMT 0702 General II, AMT 0703 General III, AMT 0704 General IV, AMT 0712 Airframe I, AMT 0713 Airframe II, AMT 0714 Airframe III, AMT 0717 Airframe IV, AMT 0821C Powerplant I, AMT 0822C Powerplant II, AMT 0823C Powerplant III, and AMT 0824C Powerplant IV.
- Maintain discipline, safety, and cleanliness within the classroom and lab environments at all times.
- Monitor student attendance and retention rates.
- Follow course outlines and objectives and evaluate and advise students.
- Be able to teach assigned classes and to effectively manage the day-to-day operation of the class and shop.
- Prepare lesson plans, develop teaching materials and provide all class lectures, lab, and clinical instruction according to the required curriculum.
- Maintain academic and FAA records.
- Attend all scheduled departmental meetings.
- Participate in budget planning and operate within the approved budget.
- Complete annual mandatory compliance training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Aviation.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in aviation maintenance or closely related field AND current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification AND five (5) years' directly related field experience. OR
- Associate's degree in aviation maintenance or closely related field AND current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification AND seven (7) years' directly related field experience. OR
- Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification AND ten (10) years' directly related field experience.
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Prior teaching experience preferred.
All degrees must be from a regionally-accredited postsecondary institution. This full-time 9-month position is eligible for continuing contract status and is contingent upon board approval and funding.
