Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Diesel Trucks & Construction Equipment
Location: Moorhead, MN
Northwest Excavating is seeking a mid-level to experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to service and maintain our fleet of diesel trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. This position is ideal for a self-motivated technician who can work independently in both shop and field environments.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
- Identify repair needs and communicate findings with management
- Order and manage parts, tools, and repair supplies as needed
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and repair logs
- Travel to local job sites for field repairs when required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Requirements
- Experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or truck technician
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- CDL preferred but not required
- Heavy equipment operation experience is a plus
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
Compensation & Benefits
- $30 – $40 per hour depending on experience
