DISTINGUISHING FEATURES: An employee in this class acts as a lead worker or minor supervisor over a small number of maintenance painters and less skilled workers and performs a wide variety of maintenance and other painting duties. This class differs from Maintenance Painter 1 in that an incumbent of the latter is not a lead worker or minor supervisor.

Other Requirements
- Leads or supervises and prepares surfaces for painting by chipping, scraping and sanding the surface; patches holes and cracks in dry wall by applying plaster and spackling compound.
- Leads or supervises and mixes paint to desired color and adds thinner to achieve the correct consistency.
- Leads or supervises and paints interiors of facilities including wall, ceilings, window trim, baseboards and doors.
- Leads or supervises and paints exteriors of facilities including wall, window trim, gutters, and doors.
- Leads or supervises and does renovation and maintenance such as laying tile and linoleum; sands, stains, varnishes and paints furniture; replaces broken windows.
- Operates and utilizes a variety of equipment such as paint brushes, rollers, buckets, ladders, drop cloths, sanders, putty knives, scrapers, air compressors, spray guns, drills, glass cutters; may operate a pick-up truck or other vehicle getting to and from the job.
- Keeps records of and makes routine reports such as time expended and materials used.
- Orders parts and equipment as needed; may assist in making cost estimates.
- May assign, train, supervise and evaluate subordinate staff performing skilled and semi-skilled painting work, and other duties; may make recommendations on staff employment, retention, promotion, demotion and other personnel actions.

- Annual Leave Full-time employees earn annual leave each month at a rated based on years of service as follows:

- Leave earned in excess of the maximum allowable days will be transferred to the employee's sick leave account annually on the employee's anniversary hire date.
- Sick Leave All full-time employees accrue 1 day (7.5 hours) of sick leave per month, provided they work the major portion of that month.
- Bereavement Leave Leave with pay is granted for three days in the event of the death of an employee's spouse, child, stepchild, grandchild, parents, grandparents, siblings, stepparents, foster parents, or parents-in-law without charge to the employee's leave time. Two additional days of sick leave may be granted to provide a total of five days absence for this purpose.
- Family Medical Leave Allows up to twelve work weeks of leave* each year to eligible employees for certain family and medical reasons.
