Northwest Distribution & Storage has been the foremost wine storage facility in the Pacific Northwest since 1994. We are a secure, licensed and bonded, temperature controlled facility that maintains a constant 58 degrees.
Position Summary
The Shipping Associate is responsible for all trailer loading, truck staging, and related warehouse shipping operations. This includes unloading inbound trailers, verifying product quality, preparing outbound shipments, and maintaining accurate inventory and order records. The role supports warehouse efficiency while upholding compliance, safety, and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include
- Safely and efficiently load and unload trailers, including Will Call orders, using a spotter when required.
- Transfer pallets from the Quality Control (QC) area to designated staging lanes.
- Update transportation statuses in Excellyr (e.g., mark outbound loads as “In Transit” and inbound consolidation loads as “Delivered”).
- Facilitate product transfers between the main warehouse and satellite locations.
- Unload inbound trailers, verify contents against documentation, and route items to correct staging lanes by destination.
- Consolidate and up-stack products to optimize space utilization and outbound efficiency.
- Manage the initial unloading of inbound storage shipments, completing all required documentation accurately.
- Perform final order and purchase order (PO) verification, including a secondary check of staged loads before shipment.
- Secure pallets with proper wrapping to ensure load integrity during transit.
- Load trailers in compliance with legal weight limits, following supervisor instructions or load plans.
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Perform other warehouse-related duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements Include
- Work is performed in a warehouse or office environment.
- Frequently required to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and to reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Forklift certification required.
- Yard Goat experience preferred.
- Previous experience loading/unloading trailers.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.Basic computer and handheld device proficiency.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills; able to present information clearly to colleagues and customers.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function for all positions in the organization.
