The Consumer Lending Loan Officer is responsible for providing service to customers seeking a variety of installment and lines of credit loans, auto and personal loans, and credit cards. This involves both secured and unsecured decisions.

The Consumer Lending Loan Officer is responsible for providing service to customers seeking a variety of installment and lines of credit loans, auto and personal loans, and credit cards. This involves both secured and unsecured decisions.
Essential Functions
- Provide instruction and leadership to the customer service staff as needed
- Provide lending support and training to field and department staff as needed
- Provide other customer services as required
- Support department projects as needed
- Communicate decision (approval, suspense, denial) to appropriate individuals and issuing proper documentation
- Underwrite credit card loans and ensuring loans meet the guidelines outlined in Northwest strategies and lending policies
- Examine application documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Follow the provisions of lending regulations
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Interview prospective applicants
- Conduct direct business calls/referrals on a directed or as needed basis
- Collect relevant credit information
- Determine eligibility and risk of loans
- Ensure growth in revenue producing products and services
- Implement changes, improvements and new procedures
- Review collateral pledged to ensure margins
- Follow current loan compliance processes
- Ensure appropriate decisions with respect to limit and rate
- Work with consumer loan department heads
- Responsible for training & mentoring customer service staff and office lenders on loan policies, procedures and compliance as needed
- Work with technology systems and web site/application development as needed
- Coordinate with the internet application entry group as needed
- Review/monitor statistical reports
- Prepare and analyze management reports
- Check accuracy of all calculations
- Underwrite and decision consumer and credit card loans
- Underwrite and decision credit card increase requests
- Confirm adverse decisions
- Monitor for potential risk (credit card or other Northwest loan risk)
- Understand and monitor credit card applications for suspicious/risky activity
- Look for cross-selling opportunities with other areas of Northwest
- Look for opportunities to discuss other credit card product/options with applicant
- Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines
- Solicit branch management input as appropriate
- Solicit corporate input and approval as appropriate
- Adverse Decision Reviews/Quality Control as designated
- Approve loans within specified limits, and referring loan applications outside those limits to management for approval
- Coach designated CSR’s within the Customer Service Center/Field Officers on specific lending practices and/or procedure
- Attend regular staff communication meetings
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance or related subject preferred
- 5-6 years lending/banking experience
- 2-6 years customer service experience
