What are the responsibilities and job description for the Planning Coordinator position at Northwest Arctic Borough?

DUTIES:

Assist the Director of Planning in the administration of the Planning Department function according to the requirements of the Borough Home Rule Charter, Borough Code and Alaska Statutes
Review and recommend Code amendments as needed
Assist Administration in Planning, Platting and Zoning Authority
Administer Title 9 Permits
Provide written and verbal reports to the Mayor, Assembly, Planning Director and Planning Commission on a regular basis and upon request
Oversees and implements Planning Department services and functions including but not limited to, permit coordination, record keeping, and reviews, village flood map updates, and community outreach and education
Prepare and submit Comment Letters on projects as needed that impact the Northwest Arctic Borough
Ability to travel as needed
Perform other duties as assigned

High School Diploma or GED
A College Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Natural Resources, Rural Development, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or a related field of study appropriate for planning activities with local Experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis
Assist in seeking funding for Planning Department services
Technical writing experience
Be able to consistently interpret Borough Code and State Statutes and adhere to specified regulations
Possess knowledge of the Borough communities
Trained in Arc GIS and/or AutoCAD and/or surveying and/or willing to learn
Have the ability to communicate effectively with residents of the Northwest Arctic Borough
